Cat Cafe Opens In New York City

There’s a first for everything, and the newly opened “Meow Parlour” is New York City’s first permanent cat cafe — a safe haven for felines and their fanciers as well.

Located on a corner on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Meow Parlour basically lets customers come in and rent time to hang out with cats, while drinking coffee and eating some of the sister company’s bakery goods.

“Everyone’s excited, they’re just thrilled at the idea. And we’re excited too!” said Christine Ha, co-founder of Meow Parlour.

Some details on the renting process: $4 for a half-hour time slot, and you are welcome to stay for up to five hours. Don’t worry if you get attached to one of the little critters — there is an option to adopt.

This could be a new trend. We’re looking forward to seeing where it goes.
